Basic Texture Techniques

Happy Easter everyone. today I'm don't have and Easter related tutorial but I made a basic texture techniques and tools tutorial. I will probably be making another one for tlc and if you would like for me to make anything just post and I'll try my best.

Tools

Most of the tools can be found in any store that sells the clay but also most can be replaced by somethings you may have around your house, like a tooth brush or a needle. but some have a bit different effects that you may want.

Needle
With the needle you can just use a sewing needle or pin or also the things from the craft stores but they mostly have the same effect just ones a bit more easy to hold. with the needles though you can do detailed designs, little lines for fur or feather or even just little dots. it can be used for a lot more then just that though.

Sandpaper
Sandpaper is good for a lot of different things, it can give your clay ruff texture look and there are more then one kind of sand paper and some make more texture then others. it can also be used to smooth after baking some time as well. In the picture below you can see some different texture from some diffident kinds of sand paper.

Brushes

Brushes come in different kinds and can be soft bristles or hard and even metal's. they can give a crumbly effect or doted and if you drag them they make ruff lines. you can even use toothbrushes.

Exact o-knifes
Exact o knifes are mostly used for cutting but can make nice lines o your clay as well. you can use a razor blade or box cute to.

Stamps
Stamps are a easy way to make designs and textures on clay and are easy to use just push them on and you have what ever is on the stamp.

Salt
Adding salt or other things to your clay can give it a vary different texture but you have to be careful when you add things and make sure it wont mess with you clay or have problems in the oven. you can also add scents to make your clay smell like something.

There a a lot more things you can use that are right in your house even so keep an eye out experiment some.
